MATHIS – Come make a splash in the new year Jan. 25 at Lake Corpus Christi State Park.
Park rangers invite children ages 5-12 to participate from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Kid Fish 2025. This free event provides young anglers an opportunity to learn how to fish and enjoy the wonders of outdoor recreation. Attendees will have an opportunity not only to fish but learn proper fishing techniques and more from park rangers and volunteers.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) personnel, volunteers and local partners will have fun and educational booths set up for visitors. Booths may include knot tying, aquatic animal touch tanks, animal furs and skulls touch tables, fish crafts and casting practice.
Participants and their families receive free entry to the event. Fishing rods will be handed out to participants on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9 a.m., the day of the event. Supplies are limited and participants must be present to sign up.
Thanks to a grant from the Ed Rachal Foundation, up to 500 participants get to keep their fishing rods once they are done fishing.
Fishing licenses are not required when fishing from the bank or piers within the park.
